Nesting Homes by Nest Interiors

It is always such a privilege to be invited into peoples’ homes to give my advice. I find the prospect of a new project very exciting. It may be a barn conversion, a waterside property, a country home, a city town house or a loft-apartment the list is endless and diversity a challenge! My name for creating a look, a lifestyle which is tailored to suit the needs of both occupier and property is Nested. I launch myself into this with great enthusiasm and passion. It is so rewarding to see the end result!

Whether its renovating, restoring or decorating the property my main aim is to maintain the integrity of the building, and wherever possible using existing features in order to create new ideas and uses. I love making full utilisation of reclaimed materials. Timber being the most sought after its hardly surprising when most of us are drawn to it. From floorboards to ceiling beams, shelving to wall paneling, wood creates warmth and texture with its multitude of uses. Left natural, painted or lime washed it is a contrast with its surroundings.

In many old and listed buildings there are often wonderful traditional techniques with a history that can also be sympathetically blended in carefully into the paint scheme using today’s wonderful palette of colours.

It’s so satisfying when everything in a room begins to have a relationship with one another and comes together. Stylish lighting and mirrors are my favourite compliments in any room. I use both deliberately to accentuate space andlight to bring outside inside. Big mirrors leaning against walls, window-style mirrors in areas like halls where there are no windows, placed opposite to glass doors with panoramic views…
